Following on from Friday’s Critics Choice Awards nominations, we will also soon find out the nominees for the 2026 Golden Globes, and it is setting up to be a competitive race. With major contenders on both the drama and comedy/musical sides, and more spaces to be nominated, it is one of the most essential precursors to show up in if these films want to be in the run in for Oscar nominations next month. This was evidenced in last year’s awards season, where 9/10 of the Best Picture nominees and 19/20 of the acting nominees at the Oscars also scored a Golden Globe nomination in their respective categories, with only I’m Still Here in Picture and Monica Barbaro (A Complete Unknown) in Supporting Actress receiving Oscar recognition following a Golden Globe snub. Will this year follow suit, or will there be some surprise picks?
